In most of these block-built homes, yes - with proper engineering and a permit. We evaluate whether the wall is load-bearing and design the beam if one is needed, then handle the permit with the City of Sunrise.

Sunrise started out as Sunrise Golf Village in the 1960s and built out steadily through the 70s and 80s, long before the Sawgrass corridor turned the west side of the city into a regional destination. The result is a huge stock of solid single-family homes east of the mall that are two generations behind on the inside: compact closed kitchens, original bathrooms, and floor plans divided into small rooms.

Those are the houses we remodel every week. Our office is here in Sunrise, on SW 160th Avenue, so this city is home turf - and the projects follow a familiar arc: open the kitchen to the living area, rebuild the bathrooms, run new flooring wall to wall, and let daylight into rooms that never had it.
